Managing the Decisions Across Your Portfolio
Your retirement accounts, taxable investments, and employer shares need to work together. Their combined holdings may leave you too dependent on one company or market sector. Changing that mix means considering taxes and money you will need soon.
At Daner Wealth Management in Alpharetta, you work directly with Marc Daner. We monitor your investments, rebalance as needed, and adjust as your circumstances change. Your investment plan guides that work: what the money needs to accomplish and when you expect to use it.

Rebalancing Keeps Risk From Drifting
When stocks grow faster than other holdings, they become a larger share of your portfolio. That can leave more of your savings exposed to a market decline than you intended.
Rebalancing brings your investment mix back toward its target through purchases, sales, or new contributions to holdings below their intended share. It is part of ongoing oversight, but does not require constant trading.
We also review whether the target still suits your needs. Approaching retirement or planning a substantial withdrawal may call for a different mix.
Consider Taxes Before Making Changes
Selling an investment that has gained value in a taxable account can create a tax bill. If that holding has grown too large, reducing the investment risk means weighing the tax cost.
Which holdings to sell, how much to sell, and whether new contributions could restore the mix all matter. So does the account: taxable and retirement accounts follow different tax rules.
Our tax planning work connects these decisions with your tax picture and your accountant’s work. Taxes matter, but should not be the sole reason to keep an unsuitable investment.
Look Beyond Individual Account Balances
Several funds may hold the same companies, even across different accounts. Employer shares can add to that concentration, tying your savings and paycheck to the same business.
We consider your holdings together before deciding what to change. For clients with substantial company stock, that includes the connection to executive compensation planning. An account can inform the plan without being managed directly by Daner.
Plan for Money You Will Need Soon
Even with a high income, a large tax payment, tuition bill, or home purchase needs a place in the plan. Its amount and timing help determine how much money can remain invested for the long term. Relying on a stock sale to pay a bill leaves you exposed to market prices when it comes due.
In retirement, cash needs may become regular withdrawals. Portfolio decisions then connect with retirement income planning: what other income you have and which expenses your savings must cover.
A Consistent Investment Approach
Our investment philosophy uses globally diversified index and rules-based funds and ETFs, with attention to fund costs and your goals.
Index funds follow a market index; rules-based funds use stated criteria to select or weight investments. Both remain exposed to market gains and losses. Our approach does not depend on market timing or picking individual stocks expected to outperform.

How We’re Paid
As a fee-only firm, our primary service is comprehensive financial planning and investment management for an annual fee based on the assets we manage, generally around 1% on a tiered scale. For prospective clients who are considering our ongoing wealth management services but aren't ready to commit, we also offer the option of developing an initial comprehensive financial plan for a one-time, flat fee. We don't earn commissions from selling investment or insurance products. We'll walk you through exactly what that means for your situation before you commit to anything.

Why Work With Daner Wealth Management
Marc Daner has worked with clients in the Atlanta area for more than 30 years, and holds both the CFP® and ChFC® designations.
Daner Wealth Management is a fee-only, independent Registered Investment Adviser, which means we aren't affiliated with a brokerage or insurance company, and we're held to a fiduciary standard that requires us to act in your best interest. We don't sell annuities, insurance products, or in-house funds, and nothing we recommend earns us a commission. For clients who want an advisor required by law to put their interests first, that structure matters.
Portfolio Management Questions
Portfolio management covers your investments and their ongoing care. Financial planning also addresses retirement timing, cash flow, and estate priorities. Your financial plan helps establish what the portfolio needs to support.
You still need to decide how much to hold, how the funds fit with your other investments, and when to rebalance or adjust the strategy. Some investors handle this themselves; others prefer an advisor to manage the ongoing decisions.
No. A professionally managed portfolio can lose value. Diversification and rebalancing help manage risk but cannot guarantee profits or prevent market losses. Your strategy needs to account for that possibility.
